
Nigerians who are capable of holding elective positions should put themselves up for service rather than complaining.
An entrepreneur in the hospitality sector, Dr Oluwatoyin Tajudeen Alabi, stated this when he paid a courtesy call on the Management of Radio Nigeria Harmony FM, Idofian, Kwara State.
Dr Alabi said governance should be a continuum to ensure that projects embarked on by previous administrations are sustained and built on by successive government.
He explained that a State like Kwara should have a Masterplan which would serve as a guide to every administration.
Dr Alabi said the absence of such document, made him to constitute a forty-four member team who developed a comprehensive sixty-one page Master plan for Kwara State which addresses development issues such as security, healthcare, education, tourism and agriculture.
Dr Alabi stressed the need to tackle insecurity, particularly in Kwara North and South to attract tourism, boost agriculture and investment.
He also pointed out that compulsory free primary school education for all children would reduce the number of out of school children and bring Kwara State high on ratings in education.
The Igbaja born philanthropist stated that access to quality and affordable healthcare was necessary to increase life expectancy while rural dwelling should be made attractive to healthcare professionals.
He also said each local government areas should be encouraged to cultivate crops according to their comparative advantage to make Kwara a State to reckon with in food production.
Dr Alabi emphasized that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has turned the fortune of Kwara around for good and that the State deserves another selfless leader who will build on his achievements, serve the people and use State resources judiciously.
In a remark, the General Manager, Radio Nigeria Harmony FM, Hajia Binta Abubakar-Mora, represented by her second in command, Engineer Olayinka Shuaib, described the Station as the people’s radio and expressed the station’s readiness to continue to partner with stakeholders for the greater good.
The General Manager emphasized that since coming on board in 2009, Harmony FM has being consistent in delivering quality programming that impact on the lives of people.
Hajia Binta emphasized that the State needed to leverage its agriculture and tourism potentials to boost Internally Generated Revenue.
