
A retired Assistant Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Alhaji Abdul Mumini Ayo Abdulmalik, has been re-elected as the National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU).
Alhaji Abdulmalik was returned unopposed at the concluding session of the Union’s 60th National Conference, held at the Ilorin West Local Government Council Secretariat, Wara, Ilorin.
Also re-elected unopposed for a second term is Alhaji AbdulRauf Babatunde Issa Onilu, who retains his position as National Vice President.
Other officers elected include Architect Moyosore Usman as National Secretary; Dr. Muhammed Nurudeen Alao and Alhaji Abdullahi Toyin Abubakar as First and Second Assistant National Secretaries, respectively, while Mallam Shuaib Sulaiman emerged as Third Assistant National Secretary.
The appointments saw Alhaji Usman Babatunde Salman elected as National Treasurer, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Mustapha as Financial Secretary, and Mallam Kayode Ibrahim as Assistant Financial Secretary.
In the social and publicity cadre, Mallam Sulaiman Mahmud Alaro emerged as National Social Secretary, with Alhaji Kolapo Ibrahim as Assistant National Social Secretary.
Mallam Shuaib Sulaiman Dagbo was elected as National Publicity Secretary, while Alhaji Mashood Alfa Pakata became Assistant National Publicity Secretary.
Others elected into the new executive council of the apex socio-cultural organisation in Kwara State include Barrister AbdulLateef Hadi as National Legal Adviser and Mallam Adam Olumide Anafi Alabere as National Auditor, both unopposed.
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Ayo Abdulmalik expressed gratitude to Allah for His mercy upon members of the Union and the entire Ilorin Emirate.
He pledged to offer selfless service, consolidate on the achievements of the previous administration, and work towards taking the Union to greater heights.
He also appealed for the continued support and prayers of members.
The newly elected executives were sworn in by Barrister Ahmad Moyosore, immediately after the announcement of results by Alhaji Bolakale Yusuf, on behalf of the electoral body.
The new leadership will pilot the affairs of the Union for a two-year tenure.
