A 45-year-old vehicle spare part dealer, Alhaji Ganiyu Kehinde, has been arrested by the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC in Ilorin for allegedly engaging in homosexual defilement of two teenage boys.
According to a statement by the spokesman of the NSCDC Kwara State Command, Mr Michael Ayoola, the accused was arrested at the popular spare parts market area, lpata-Oloje, Ilorin.
The incident was reported at the Gender Unit of the Command April 14, 2025, by parents of the victims and concerned members of the community, who claimed the suspect had been involved in repeated homosexual acts with the two teenage boys, aged 15 and 19.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect lured the victims with the sum of ₦500 on separate occasions, after having carnal knowledge of them both at his residence and in an uncompleted building located at Oko-Olowo area of Ilorin.
The victims are currently undergoing medical and psychological assessments to support their recovery and the ongoing investigation.
However, the suspect denied all allegations of sexual penetration, admitting he only asked the boys to sleep on his chest, describing the act as harmless.
The statement indicates that the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the ongoing investigation in accordance with legal provisions.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State NSCDC Commandant, Dr Umar Mohammed emphasized that Sexual abuse, particularly against minors, is a grievous offense and a direct attack on the moral fabric of the society.
The Commandant said the Corps remained determined to ensure that justice is served, and perpetrators of such heinous crimes were brought to book.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the NSCDC to protecting the rights and safety of children, youth, and other vulnerable groups in the society.
