Kwara State Government has reassured the people of the Edu Local Government Area and other parts of the state of the government’s commitment to strengthening the security of lives and property of the citizenry.

Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, gave the reassurance when he led the state government’s delegation to villages attacked by criminal elements in the Edu Local Government Area of the state.

Mr. Danladi-Salihu said no efforts would be spared until criminal elements are totally crushed and lasting peace is restored in the state.

He explained that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq had continued to show leadership in the wake of the attacks, briefed key stakeholders on the deployment of army and forest guards to cumb everywhere and flush out the criminal elements perpetrating the acts.

The Speaker stressed that all hands must be on deck to address the situation and enjoined residents to be vigilant and play their parts by reporting credible information and suspicious movements they noticed around them to the security agents.

In a remark, the Emir of Lafiagi, Alhaji Muhammad Kawu Kudu, appreciated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for standing with them during the difficult time and also acknowledged the effort to eradicate the banditry.

The Emir also appealed to the government for an increase in the number of forest guards and support for farmers whose farmlands were destroyed during the incident.

On the entourage of the Kwara State delegation as led by the Speaker were Mr. Gideon Saba Yisa, member representing Edu State Constituency; Alhaji Mohammed Musa Kareem, member representing Patigi State Constituency; Mr Saidu Baba, member representing Bani/Adena/Gwaria State Constituency; Alhaji. Abdullahi Bello, Chairman of Edu LGA; and Alhaji. Adam Rufai, Chairman of Patigi LGA.

Other places visited included Kpandaragi, Bokungi and Guye Dadi villages, where the criminal elements unleashed attacks on the innocent citizens and delivered government condolences to the victims.
