Boat Mishap: Authorities Recover More Dead Bodies
Authorities of State Emergency Management Agencies have confirmed the death of 25 people following the boat accident in the Gbajibo Community of Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State and parts of Niger State.
The tragic incident occurred when a boat carrying over 200 passengers heading to Gbajibo for the Mawlid celebration capsized.
A statement by the Director of Niger State Emergency Management Agency, Mr Abdullahi Baba-Arah, indicates that the 25 bodies recovered were of four female and 21 male.
According to the statement, 31 persons have so far been rescued while search efforts are still ongoing to locate the remaining 125 passengers who are missing.
