The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu, has urged Nigerians, especially the youth, to uphold good behaviour and strive to make a meaningful impact in their communities, drawing inspiration from the life and influence of former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
The Chief Imam represented by his Deputy, the Imam Imale of Ilorin, Alhaji Abdullahi AbdulHamid delivered the message on Friday during a special birthday prayer held in honour of Saraki, who turned 63, at the Ipaye/Iloffa, Baba Oloye GRA Residence in Ilorin.
He described Saraki as a leader whose contributions to humanity and the nation continue to speak for him, calling on people to emulate his values of service, generosity, and commitment to societal growth.
Meanwhile, speaking at the Kwara PDP Youth Summit, Saraki said his initial plan was to spend the day privately with his family in reflection and gratitude to Almighty Allah.
However, he noted that honour must be reciprocated, especially when it comes from young people mobilising for positive change.
He expressed delight at attending the Kwara PDP Youth Summit earlier in the day, describing the initiative as a demonstration that the PDP remains a home of “brilliant ideas.”
Saraki emphasised that with youths constituting almost 70 percent of Nigeria’s population, they should be at the forefront of designing and implementing development strategies across sectors.
“I appreciate everyone who took the time to attend and contribute to the conversation. Many will draw inspiration from the examples you have set,” he said. “Wherever the talk is about how to genuinely engage our youths and help them realise their God-given potentials, I am there. Count me in.”
Saraki also encouraged other PDP state chapters to emulate the forward-looking efforts of the Kwara PDP youths, expressing confidence in their capacity for bold and progressive action.
