Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will surmount its current internal challenges, insisting that the party remains strong and will not go into extinction.

Dr. Saraki stated this while addressing party members at the PDP Kwara State Youth Summit held in Ilorin to mark his 63rd birthday.

According to him, internal disagreements within the party should be viewed as opportunities for growth rather than signs of weakness, stressing that the PDP would emerge stronger and more united.

The former Senate President also called on political leaders to be deliberating on creating opportunities for young people, while urging youths to believe in themselves and play active roles in nation-building and democratic governance.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Kwara State Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Issa Adamu Bawa, said the summit was organised in honour of Dr. Saraki, whom he described as a leader with a clear political philosophy, inclusive leadership style and remarkable achievements.

In a keynote address, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin, charged Kwara youths to take ownership of the political process and prepare themselves for leadership through discipline, education and selfless service.

Similarly, the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, represented by Mr. Banks Omisore, described Dr. Saraki as a national political figure and urged young people to remain actively engaged in politics and community development.

Also speaking earlier, the Kwara State PDP Youth Leader, Comrade Odunjo, called for unity, effective mobilisation and strategic planning ahead of the 2027 general elections.
