Kwara State Police Command has confirmed an armed robbery incident that occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2025, along Post Office Road in Ilorin.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said the victim, a driver of a Sienna vehicle, was attacked by armed men who shot him in the palm before escaping with an undisclosed amount of money.
The statement indicates that the injured driver is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Ojo Adekimi, has ordered a discreet investigation to ensure the culprits are tracked down and brought to justice.

He has also directed a reinforcement of security architecture across Ilorin metropolis, including enhanced deployments, increased patrols, and improved police visibility to reassure residents.
CP Adekimi advised members of the public to avoid moving large sums of cash and to embrace electronic transactions. He further urged those who must move cash to make use of trusted bank escort services to reduce the risk of attacks.
The Command also appealed to residents to report any suspicious movement or persons, particularly around banks and other financial locations, to support efforts at preventing criminal activities.
