NDLEA Cautions Players of Kwara United Football Club Against Self-medication

Players and officials of Kwara United Football Club have been urged to avoid self-medication and consult the team doctor for any medical needs.

The Kwara State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Hajia Fatimoh Abiola Popoola gave the advice in Ilorin during a health enlightenment programme organised for the players.

Hajia Fatimoh Popoola, who also cautioned the players against the dangers of drug abuse, identified infertility, cardiovascular diseases, and premature death as some of the risks associated with drug abuse.

Speaking during the event, Hajia Fatimoh Abiola Popoola, emphasized that drug experimentation often leads to abuse, stressing that discipline and diligence are key traits of responsible athletes.

The club’s General Manager, Bashir Badawiy praised the unwavering support from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and commended the NDLEA for partnering the club on this vital issue.

He noted that the seminar provided valuable insights into drug regulations.

A veteran broadcaster and Olympian, Mallam Hammed Adio, in his goodwill message, advocated a partnership between the Kwara Sports Commission and the NDLEA to raise awareness about drug abuse among athletes.

He encouraged Kwara United players to engage in extra training, drawing inspiration from sports legends Rashidi Yekini and Muda Lawal, as a way to stay focused and avoid social ills.

The event concluded with the exchange of souvenirs between Kwara United and the NDLEA, while NDLEA boss announced Bashir Badawiy as NDLEA ambassador and was decorated with the agency’s badge.
