
Economic Challenges: Federal Government Urged To Diversify Oil Sector.
Federal Government and other stakeholders have been called to diversify and optimize the oil and gas sector to address economic challenges facing the country.
The Head of Department, Accounting and Finance, Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Mr. Mutiu Afolabi made the call while speaking with Radio Nigeria – Harmony FM in Ilorin, Kwara State Capital.
According to Mr Afolabi, the nation’s economy is in bad shape because the country has not been diversifying and optimizing its oil sector.
He noted that solving the problem in the oil and gas sector in Nigeria would address at least Thirty per cent of Nigeria’s challenges.

Mr. Mutiu Afolabi also identified unemployment as one of the major contributing factors to slow pace of development in the country.
He advised wealthy individuals and private sector to join hands with the government to find lasting solutions to security and unemployment problems to allow Nigeria to compete with other countries in the world.
On the country’s 64th Independence and 25 years of uninterrupted democracy, the Head of Department, Accounting and Finance, Federal Polytechnic, Offa, enjoined Nigerians to remain united for a stronger democracy.
Mr. Mutiu Afolabi argued that when there is no unity among the people, the country will not witness the desired development.
