
Good road network and effective transportation system are key economic indicators for growth, which will propel Kwara State to advance its quest to be the business hub of Nigeria.
The Kwara State Commissioner for Transportation, Alhaji Lafia Aliyu Kora-Sabi, stated this at the maiden meeting with the management and staff of the Ministry on assumption of duty today.
Alhaji Lafia Kora-Sabi, who appreciated the privileges offered him to serve the present administration in many capacities, said that efforts of government would soon translate into positive results considering the huge investment in the two sectors.
The pioneer Commissioner of the Ministry of Transportation, lauded Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq’s visionary leadership and the unwavering zeal in transforming and rewriting what he described as the ugly narrative of Kwara State in the time past, to a more adorable one for all the residents.

The Commissioner stressed further that, the creation of the new Ministry was out of the undaunted passion of Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration has in promoting good and workable transportation system, which according to him, would allow accessibility and ease movement of agricultural produce from the rural to urban areas of the State.
He pointed out that the initiatives had begun opening up the State for businesses and multilateral economic relationship with communities, local government and other border countries.
“Transportation and the economy are like identical twins, as humans have movement as our biological traits. It’s through an accessible and well coordinated road that the state can harness economic potential, food security, and socio-cultural transactions which underscores crucial reason for the government in placing priority to our transportation system in the State”, emphasized, Hon. Kora-Sabi said.
“We can all testify to many of the capital projects already accomplished by the State Government, like the innovation hub, garment factory, sugar film factory, the ongoing international conference centre, state judges house, Kwara Internal Revenue Service House, amongst plenty (many)others; the Ilorin Smart City projects and renewed urbanization of roads and flyovers. All, by no iota of doubt, has/ and would, hugely improve the economic prosperity of the State,” he added.
The Commissioner for Transportation also, said that the government has given approval for more road construction, stating that the construction of Bode-Sadu/ Olooru to Baruten roads stretching to the border areas in the Kwara North District, would soon take off.
He however, called on the management and staff of the Ministry to be proactive, committed to their duties and join hands with him to ensure the purpose, goals and expectations of the State Government for the creation of the Ministry is fully accomplished.
In an address of welcome, the Director, Personnel, Finance and Supply of the Ministry of Transportation, Hajia Muinat Ajao, congratulated the Commissioner on his appointment to the Ministry, and assured him of full cooperation from the staff.
Earlier in an address, the Director, Transportation, Engr. Joshua Durotoye, also welcomed the Commissioner to the Ministry, noting that his impacted values were noticeable in other Ministries where he had once served.
Engr Durotoye assured the Commissioner of their unalloyed confidence in his ability and maximum cooperation to work according to the government’s vision to achieve desired results.
Also in attendance were, Director, Building and Mechanical Services, Engr. Olayinka Busari; Director Road, Rail and Water Ways, Engr. Solomon Oyinloye and other members of the Ministry.
