Gov. AbdulRazaq Names Col. Lawal Education Fund Chairman
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State has appointed the much sought-after management consultant, retired Colonel Abdulwahab Ademola Lawal Ph.D as the Chairman of the State Education Trust Fund (ETF).
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, the people-person known for his integrity and discipline, Colonel Lawal comes highly recommended for the task of mobilising human and material resources for public education in Kwara State.
Col. Lawal served in the Nigerian Army Infantry for 22 years and retired in 1995. He served in many capacities, both on staff and command. He also served in the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations in Iran-Iraq military Observer Group in 1988-99 and ECOMOG 1992-1994.
He was also a Directing Staff at the Command and Staff College, Jaji, in 1995. He holds masters and doctorate degrees in Public Policy from St Clements University (2007). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants and a member of it’s governing council.
He has held many post-military service appointments, including membership of the board of directors Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, 2001-2004, Chairman, Kwara State Task Force on Contract Verification, Pension Audit among others.
Colonel Lawal was an external examiner at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) SEC 34, 2012. He is currently Head of Research, Savannah Centre for Diplomacy Democracy and Development.
He has conducted fieldwork on conflict management in the Northeast Nigeria and written many papers on civil military relations, accountability in the security sector, national security architecture, inter agency collaboration, public service reforms and a host of other issues relating to community security governance and development.
The newly appointed Chairman of Kwara State Education Trust Fund was a member of ministerial committee for the development of training curriculum for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, a member of the Presidential Committee on Police Reform (PORTO8, and a member of the National Bioethics Committee at the Ministry of Science and Technology.
He has obtained basic and advanced certificates in management trainers development from the Centre for Management Development.
