Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has urged Nigerians to refrain from disclosing information about the movement of security personnel, warning that such actions endanger lives and undermine ongoing counterterrorism operations.

The Governor made the appeal while speaking with journalists during a visit to soldiers injured in a recent bandits’ ambush.

He noted that some attacks on troops are facilitated by intelligence leaked by individuals acting as informants.

Describing the act as sabotage, Governor AbdulRazaq stressed that security operatives are making immense sacrifices daily to safeguard the country and should be supported by all.

During the visit, the Governor was received by the Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Nigerian Army, Sobi, Brigadier General Nicholas Nemetne Rume, alongside the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Abdullah Dasilva Yussuf.

Governor AbdulRazaq expressed deep sympathy to the families of the three soldiers who lost their lives in the ambush, announcing a donation of ₦20 million to each family, amounting to ₦60 million.

He also approved ₦5 million each for the three injured soldiers currently receiving treatment.

He said the gesture was a token of appreciation for the ultimate sacrifice made by the fallen heroes and a show of support for the injured.

“We are here to visit the soldiers who were ambushed by bandits. Unfortunately, we lost three of them, while three others are receiving treatment. We pray for the repose of the souls of the fallen and for the quick recovery of those injured,” he said.

He added that the donation would serve as interim support pending further assistance from the Ministry of Defence Nigeria.

The Governor commended the armed forces for their dedication and called on citizens to collaborate with security agencies in the fight against banditry and terrorism.

“Once again, this highlights the dangers our security personnel face daily. They put their lives on the line to keep us safe. All hands must be on deck to win this fight,” he added.
