The Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq has presented the 2025 revised and supplementary budget Estimates to the State House of Assembly for legislative approval.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Mr.Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, made this known while reading the Governor’s letter at the plenary.

According to the Governor’s letter, the adjustments followed approval by the State Executive Council.

The Speaker explained that under the new estimates, the recurrent revenue was revised from over Three hundred and seventy-five billion Naira to over three hundred and sixty-six billion Naira representing a two-point-four per cent decrease.

Mr. Danladi-Salihu stated that the recurrent expenditure, however, increased from over One hundred and fifty-four billion Naira to over One hundred and fifty-eight billion naira representing an increase of two-point-seven per cent.

He said the capital expenditure was cut from over Three hundred and fifty-five billion Naira to over Three hundred and forty-two billion Naira, naira also represented a decrease of three-point-seven per cent.

The Speaker noted that with the adjustments, the total budget size now stands at over Five hundred billion Naira, down from over five hundred and nine billion Naira, which is a reduction of one-point-eight per cent.

Mr. Danladi-Salihu stressed that the revised figures were intended to align government spending with prevailing economic realities.

The Bill however passed through first Reading and the Clerk to the House was directed to circulate clean copies of the Bill to the members and therefore referred to the House Committee on Rules and Business to slate it for Second Reading.
