IEDPU Mourns Veteran Broadcaster, Lawyer AbdulRahman Malik

The National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a veteran broadcaster, accomplished lawyer, and former National Publicity Secretary of the Union, Alhaji AbdulRahman Malik.

Alhaji Malik passed away on Sunday after a brief illness and was laid to rest on Monday.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Suleiman Shuaib Dagbo, Alhaji Ayo Abdulmalik described the news of Malik’s demise as shocking, noting that the Union received it with profound grief.

Ayo Abdulmalik recalled their time together as editorial staff of The Herald in the mid-1970s, highlighting the late Malik’s immense contributions to community and national development over several decades.

He described the deceased as a distinguished reporter, academic, legal luminary, and seasoned publicist.

The IEDPU President particularly commended Malik’s tenure as National Publicity Secretary between 2000 and 2004 under the leadership of the late Alhaji Abdullahi Atanda.

He said Malik brought elegance, professionalism, and sophistication to the Union’s internal and external communications, leaving a legacy that would continue to be celebrated.

Alhaji Abdulmalik extended his condolences to the Onimasa family of Kuntu, Ilorin, as well as colleagues, friends, and associates of the deceased, describing him as an outstanding multidisciplinary professional.

He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late Malik and grant him Aljanatul Firdaus.
