The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union in partnership with Oluwole Educational Foundation has presented NECO registration fee cheques to three hundred and forty-five indigent students across Ilorin Emirate.

The National President of IEDPU, Alhaji Abdul-Mumini Ayo Abdul-Malik, disclosed this during the symbolic presentation ceremony held at the union’s National Secretariat in Ilorin for beneficiaries of the 2026 NECO Registration Sponsorship Programme.

Represented by the National Vice President of the union, Alhaji Abdul-Rauf Babatunde Issa, the IEDPU President explained that the beneficiaries were carefully selected from the five Local Government Areas that make up Ilorin Emirate.

He said one hundred and twenty secondary schools across the Emirate benefited from the initiative, while five students were selected from each of the sixty-nine wards in the Emirate.

Alhaji Abdul-Mumini urged the beneficiaries to remain focused on their studies and justify the investment in their education by building brighter futures for themselves, their families, and the community.

He also appealed to parents and guardians to provide the necessary support and conducive environment for the students to excel in the forthcoming NECO examinations and other future academic pursuits.

Speaking at the event, the Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development Commissioner, Dr Mohammed Lawal Olohungbebe, represented by Dr Sa’adudeen Abdul-Rasheed, commended the initiative and urged other well-meaning individuals and groups within Ilorin Emirate to emulate the gesture by supporting indigent students.

Also speaking, the Kwara State Coordinator of the National Examinations Council, Donald Adi, described the intervention as a demonstration of IEDPU’s commitment to educational development in Ilorin Emirate.

He appreciated IEDPU and Oluwole Educational Foundation for sponsoring three hundred and forty-five indigent students for the 2026 NECO examination and advised the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously, shun examination malpractice, and approach their examinations with confidence.
