The National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Abdul Mumini Ayo Abdulmalik, has called on the Nigeria Police Force, Kwara State Command, to sustain a cordial working relationship with the Ilorin community and accord due respect to its culture and traditions.

Alhaji Abdulmalik made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adekimi Ojo, at the Command Headquarters in Ilorin.

He led a delegation of the Union’s National Executive Council to the meeting.

Alhaji Abdulmalik stressed that the IEDPU does not condone crime or criminality in any form, but emphasised the importance of respecting the faith, culture, and longstanding traditions of the Ilorin Emirate.

According to him, the people of Ilorin are peace-loving and religiously tolerant — values that have continued to sustain peaceful coexistence across the Emirate and Kwara State at large.

The IEDPU President, a retired Assistant Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, commended the Commissioner of Police for the honour and recognition accorded to the Emir of Ilorin and the Emirate Traditional Council.

He described the gesture as a reflection of the Commissioner’s cultural background and sensitivity to religious and traditional values.

Alhaji Abdulmalik further appreciated the police command for its efforts in maintaining peace and order in the state, urging officers and men not to relent in the fight against crime.

He also conveyed the Emir’s goodwill and prayers to the Commissioner, while pledging the Union’s continued support for the police.

In his response, the Commissioner of Police expressed appreciation to the Emir and the IEDPU leadership for their cooperation and partnership with the police.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining a harmonious relationship with the Ilorin community.

Members of the delegation included retired Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, AIG Adisa Baba Bolanta and AIG Babatunde Babaita; representatives of Ilorin Emirate traditional chiefs; and the IEDPU National Vice President, Alhaji Abdul Rauf Babatunde Issa.
