A Drug Revolving Scheme has been activated across the seventy-seven Primary Healthcare Centres in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Chairman of the Ifelodun Local Government, Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, explained that under the scheme, drugs will be sold at subsidized rates at health centres across the eighteen wards.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Abdulkadri Jimba, Hadji Femi Yusuf said the scheme is aimed at easing access to essential medication for residents, especially those in rural communities.

As part of his campaign promises, the Chairman also received a Federal Government-funded Primary Healthcare Centre in Babaloma Community, where operations have already begun.

He pointed out that the establishment of functional PHCs and affordable care, are a top priority of Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq because of its effect on the wellbeing of the people, particularly children, women, widows and the aged.

Hadji Femi Yusuf also announced that the Local Government has sponsored forty-three students to Osogbo Polytechnic of Health Technology and Management Sciences to study health-related courses, to improve manpower for the existing healthcare centres.

He stated that three workers have been approved to commence operations at the PHC in Babaloma Community while some medical doctors are shuttling between health centres to provide professional care for the people.

Earlier, the Head of Health Department in Ifelodun Local Government, Chief Abdulrazaq Abdulsalam, applauded the Chairman for the various health sector initiatives and appreciated his continued approval of all the department’s activities.
