Kwara Police Deploys Personnel For Peaceful Independence Celebration

The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, CP Victor Olaiya has ordered the deployment of human and tactical resources across the State to ensure a seamless and secure celebration.

A statement issued by the Public Relation Officer, DSP ADETOUN EJIRE-ADEYEMI said it will be in collaboration with other security agencies.

According to the statement, the police will secure key venues and highways, safeguarding lives and property during and after the event.

It notes that the Kwara State Police Command is aware of the planned protest on October 1, 2024, acknowledging that while the police respects the rights to a peaceful assembly, all protests must comply within the ambience of the law.

The statement reminds Organizers to adhere to the court ruling, which designates the Metropolitan Square along Asa-Dam Road as the only approved location for any gatherings, assuring that any attempt to disrupt public peace or hold protests at unauthorized locations, such as the Post Office, will be swiftly addressed.

The Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya felicitates with Kwarans on this occasion, urging reflection on the nation’s journey, as he reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding peace and upholding the rule of law.

He encouraged citizens to carry on with their lawful activities as the police are prepared to ensure safety throughout the state.
