The Islamic Orphanage Foundation (IOF) has urged all tiers of government and the private sector to prioritise orphans and other underprivileged individuals in employment opportunities.
The appeal was made by the Chairman of the foundation, Architect Saefullah Ahmad Alege, during the 2026 Annual Orphans Day celebration held at the National Secretariat of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) in Ilorin.

Architect Alege noted that many orphans under the foundation’s care have demonstrated academic excellence across various institutions, including tertiary levels, yet remain unemployed.
He stressed the need for deliberate policies and initiatives to integrate them into the workforce.
Architect Alege further called on philanthropists and well-meaning individuals to support orphans through scholarships and skills acquisition programmes, to empower them as self-reliant and productive members of society.

While acknowledging the challenges associated with caring for children outside the family structure, Alege commended members of the foundation for their commitment.
He also advised caregivers to remain patient and compassionate, given the emotional trauma many orphans experience.
The event featured goodwill messages from organisations including the Ilorin Women Association and Sisters of Jannat, alongside the presentation of awards to outstanding orphans in recognition of their academic achievements.
