The Kwara State All Progressives Congress, APC, Reconciliation Committee has commenced efforts to restore peace among aggrieved members following disagreements arising from the party’s primary elections.
Chairman of the committee, retired Colonel AbdulWahab Ademola Lawal, made the announcement during a news conference in Ilorin, calling on party leaders and members to embrace dialogue and reconciliation in the interest of unity.
Colonel Lawal explained that the committee was constituted to reconcile aggrieved stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that peace and harmony would be restored within the party.
He described the disagreements as a family affair, stressing that all parties involved remain loyal to the APC and should resolve their differences with understanding and mutual respect.
The committee chairman said its assignment includes engaging party executives, aspirants, candidates and stakeholders across the three senatorial districts to identify the root causes of the disputes and recommend lasting solutions.
He also appealed to party members to avoid inflammatory comments and provocative statements capable of escalating tensions, urging everyone to make the sacrifices needed to preserve the party’s unity and electoral strength.
Colonel Lawal disclosed that the committee had already begun consultations and would also engage members of the G15, while collaborating with individuals and groups that had initiated reconciliation efforts within the party.
He commended party faithful working towards peace and urged the media, especially social media users, to report developments responsibly and objectively.
Other members of the committee present at the briefing included Dr. Oluwatoyin Opawoye, Engineer Musa Yeketi and ACG Ahmed Abbass.
