Kwara State Civil Service Commission has commenced the 2024 promotion interview exercise for civil servants across the state, covering officers on Grade Levels 7 to 17.
Speaking with journalists at the Commission’s headquarters in Ilorin, the Executive Chairman, Hajia Habibat Yusuf, described the exercise as a mandatory process for all eligible officers seeking advancement in their careers.
Hajia Yusuf disclosed that over 2,000 civil servants would participate in the interview, which is expected to last for four weeks.
She explained that the promotion assessment consists of 60 percent written examination and 40 percent oral interview, warning that any officer who fails to attend would have to wait until the following year before being considered for promotion.

“This year’s exercise is not business as usual. Every eligible officer must pass through a rigorous and transparent process before moving to the next level,” she emphasized.
The Chairman also revealed that preparations for the 2025 promotion exercise would commence this week, as the Commission plans to issue letters to all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to begin compiling lists of eligible officers.
Hajia Yusuf urged all civil servants to remain dedicated, diligent, and committed to their duties, describing the promotion process as a key incentive for improved productivity and professionalism in the state workforce.
She commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his commitment to workers’ welfare and for consistently granting timely approval for the conduct of promotion exercises since the inception of his administration.
