
Kwara Council of Ulama Demands Justice For Ritual Murder Victim
The Kwara State Council of Ulama has condemned the alleged ritual murder of Hafsoh Lawal, a student of the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, by AbdulRahman Bello, calling for justice in the case.
The Executive Secretary of the council and retired Grand Kadi of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice Salihu Muhammad, made the call while addressing newsmen at the NUJ Press Centre in Ilorin.

He expressed shock and sadness over the gruesome murder, stating that the Council has been working tirelessly to prevent such incidents.
Justice Muhammad emphasized that the Ilorin Emirate is renowned for its propagation of Islamic knowledge and values, earning the state its reputation as a “State of Harmony.”
He noted that the Council, under the leadership of the Emir of Ilorin, has been empowered to license mosques and ensure that only Imams with good character are allowed to lead congregations.

The Executive Secretary described the alleged ritual murder as un-Islamic and contrary to the values of the Ilorin people.
He announced that the Council would convene a meeting of Imams and other Muslim leaders to educate them on the proper practice of Islam.
Justice Muhammad urged all Imams to ensure they have a means of livelihood in addition to their leadership role, emphasizing the importance of responsible leadership and the prevention of such heinous crimes.
