The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Adekimi Ojo, has issued a stern warning to officers and men of the Command against misconduct, extortion, harassment, and human rights violations, stressing that such practices will no longer be tolerated under his leadership.
Addressing Deputy Commissioners of Police, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Commanders in Ilorin, the Police Commissioner emphasized professionalism and respect for human rights in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
CP Ojo particularly cautioned officers against meddling in civil matters without criminal elements, unlawful phone searches, and wrongful profiling of youths as internet fraudsters, describing such actions as grave offences that would attract severe disciplinary measures.
Reassuring members of the public, especially students and young people, the CP pledged that the Command would uphold the dignity and rights of all citizens as guaranteed by the Constitution.
He urged youths to remain law-abiding, noting that the era of intimidation and wrongful profiling was over in Kwara State.
On enforcement, CP Ojo announced that the Command would commence a clampdown on vehicles with tinted glasses without valid permits starting October 2, 2025.
He warned that offenders with fake, invalid, or no permits would be arraigned in court within 24 hours.
The Command advised motorists to always carry original copies of their tinted glass permits and urged residents to report any extortion related to the exercise through official complaint channels.
