The Kwara State Fire Service has successfully contained a fire outbreak at CSM Nursery and Primary School, located in Kulende Estate Phase 3, Ilorin.

According to a statement by the Head of Media and Publicity of the Service, Mr. Hakeem Hassan, the incident involved a school building comprising about 15 classrooms, five of which were affected by the fire.

Firefighters reportedly responded promptly to the distress call and swiftly commenced operations, preventing the flames from spreading to other parts of the building.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the fire originated from one of the classrooms that had been converted into a hostel, where a student was said to have left a cooking activity unattended, which led to the ignition of nearby combustible materials.

The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Olumuyiwa Falade, reiterated his warning against cooking inside hostels or other unauthorized places, stressing that unattended heat sources remain one of the major causes of preventable fire disasters.

He urged parents, school authorities, and guardians to caution students against unsafe practices that could endanger lives and property.

Prince Falade appealed to members of the public to promptly contact the Fire Service in the event of any fire emergency and to maintain a high level of safety consciousness at all times.
