Kwara State Government has directed all residents of the state to register with the state registration agency.
According to the agency, the registration would ensure accurate data of resident, security of lives and properties as well as enhance adequate planning for economic development.
The Acting General Manager of KWSRRA, Mr Tajudeen Jimoh explained that the agency received directive of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to register every resident in the state and issue them with unique State Security Identification (SSID) numbers/card.
Mr Tajudeen Jimoh noted that exercise was taking place across 96 registration centres in the state, with plan to have more centres as the process continues.
He said the agency is also working with the Ministries of Education and Human Capital Development, Tertiary Education, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Kwara State Social Investment Programmes, among others to mobilise citizens for the exercise.
Tajudeen Jimoh hinted that after the registration, parents, guardians, and students would be required to provide their unique SSID numbers in the process of registering for any exams, scholarships, grants, or social safety benefits.
The Kwara State Government had recently captured all its workers and pensioners in the pool, underscoring the progress of the efforts to build a credible database of residents of the State.
The government says the effort is important for security and economic planning, calling on the residents to support it for the general wellbeing and data-driven planning.
