Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to Human Capital Development, HCD, through heavy investment in critical components of the sector.

The Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Mr Kayode Alabi stated this in Ilorin at a stakeholders’ workshop on Human Capital Development across the three senatorial districts of the state.

The Deputy Governor, who spoke through the Commissioner for Communications, Mrs Bolanle Olukoju, identified Human Capital Development as a cornerstone to any development.

Mr Kayode Alabi explained that HCD is essential for economic growth, saying that it is the reason the state government put it into work in the state.

The workshop, at the instance of National Office of Human Capital Development, Abuja and themed “From Strategy to Action: Harmonizing Kwara State Human Capital Development Implementation”, was organized in collaboration with the state government.

The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Engr Yakubu Danladi Salihu described the workshop as a step forward in attaining quality education.

The Speaker, represented by the Chairman, House Committee on Education and Human Capital Development, Alhaji Mohammed Baba Salihu, said the event was timely as it would help in identifying challenges and offering solutions in the area of amount of human capital required to advance the state.

He, however, stressed the need for the nation’s system of education to be futuristic, adding that the advent of technology has made it inevitable.

A member representing Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Muktar Tolani Shagaya, represented by Mr Lukman Basheer, showered encomium on the present administration in the state, saying that it has been on high pedestal in ensuring human capital development in all sectors.

In a remark, the State Commissioner for Social Development, Dr Mariam Nna-Fatima Imam, said human capital development is key to driving innovation.

Dr Imam, who served as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor prior to her recent elevation to commissioner, said HCD is crucial to the state, pointing out that his principal has invested hugely in critical sectors of the economy.

According to her, Human Capital Development is the cornerstone of any State’s success and, it is the key to unlocking full potential, driving innovation, and achieving sustainable economic growth.
