
NAWOJ New Executive Committee Inaugurated
Nigerian Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, has inaugurated a new executive committee to lead the association for the next three years.
The inauguration ceremony was officiated by Barrister Fasilat Balogun at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Press Centre, Ilorin.

In an acceptance speech, the newly elected NAWOJ Chairperson, Hajia Bashirat Ayantola, affirmed commitment to advancing the interests of women in the media industry, addressing existing challenges, and fostering professional growth and collaboration.
Hajia Ayantola emphasized that the new leadership aimed at strengthen the voice and impact of women journalists across Nigeria.
She added that the leadership of NAWOJ is dedicated to steering the association activities and initiatives to empower female journalists and enhance their professional opportunities.

In a remark, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Mallam Abdullateef Ahmed encouraged the new leadership to uphold the association’s constitution and maintain transparency in all their endeavors.
The new executive members are Bashirat Ayantola from NTA as Chairperson, Ganiyat Adedeji from Kwara TV – Vice Chairperson, Mariam Abdulkadir from Radio Kwara – Secretary, Fatimah Lawal from News Agency of Nigeria – Assistant Secretary and Misstura Tolani of Radio Nigeria – Harmony FM as Treasurer of the association.

The new leadership is expected to guide NAWOJ’s programmes and advocate for women journalists nationwide throughout their tenure.
