The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has arrested three suspects for the vandalism and stealing of railway clips and nuts along the rail line in Offa Local Government Area of the state.

The arrests followed the apprehension of an 18-year-old suspect, Mosahudu Salisu, by an official of the Nigeria Railway Corporation on Friday, 28th November 2025, at Adeleke area of Offa.

Salisu was reportedly intercepted while attempting to transport the stolen railway components on his motorcycle and was subsequently handed over to operatives of the NSCDC Offa Division.

Further investigations by the division led to the arrest of two additional suspects linked to the alleged crime. They were identified as 19-year-old Hassan Abu, described as the principal vandal, and 35-year-old Abubakar Mohammed, said to be the intermediary who facilitated the sale of the stolen items to the buyer.

All three suspects are currently in NSCDC custody and are assisting investigators with useful information.

Speaking while parading the suspects on Tuesday, 2nd December 2025, the Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, Dr. Umar Mohammed, condemned the act, describing the vandalism of railway infrastructure as a grave threat to national economic growth and public safety.

He commended operatives of the Offa Division for their professionalism and coordinated intelligence efforts that led to the arrests.

Dr. Mohammed reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding critical national assets across the state, assuring that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. He also called on residents to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to enhance public safety and curb criminal activities.
