A total of 1, 306 members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC deployed to Kwara State have been sworn in for the one year service out of which 640 are females, and 658 males.
In his opening remark at the state NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Yikpata, Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, lauded the federal government for sustaining the scheme, noting that it has afforded educated Nigerian youths the opportunity to rightly channel their acquired skills, energy, talent and intellect towards national development.
Governor Abdulrazaq, represented by the State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mallam Shehu Ndanusa, charged the Corps members to adopt conscientious approach to various activities of the three week orientation course to tackle challenges ahead.

“Dear Corps members, you can to adopt a serious and conscientious approach to the activities of the orientation course in order to be able to face the numerous challenges of the assignments that lie ahead.
“You must not in any way, allow frivolities affect the needed commitment in achieving the expected qualities of future leaders, which the NYSC scheme is designed to prepare you for”, he charged.
He also pledged continued support to the welfare and security of Corps members currently serving and newly deployed to the State for their national service.
In an address, the NYSC Kwara State Coordinator, Mr Olaoluwa Onifade, stated that the swearing in ceremony is a unique fulfillment of the hopes and aspirations of the founding fathers of the scheme since its establishment over fifty years ago.
The Coordinator also commended the Federal Government’s upward review of corps members’ monthly allowance from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000.
He noted that the increment will serve as morale booster for the youth to further contribute to the socioeconomic development of the nation.

“I want to use this auspicious occasion to formally appreciate Mr President, on behalf of all the Corps members, on the recent upward review of Corps members allowance from ₦33, 000 to ₦77,000.
“Apart from boosting the morale of of our Corps members, it will further spur them to contribute more significantly to the socio-economic development of our dear country, Nigeria”.
