Over 2,500 civil servants across Ministries, Departments and Agencies in Kwara State have participated in the 2026 promotion exercise conducted through Computer-Based Testing.
The Chairman of the Kwara State Civil Service Commission, Hajia Habibat Yusuf, said the Commission adopted the CBT platform because many officers are more familiar with Android devices, making the exercise simpler and reducing anxiety among candidates.
Speaking at the Ilorin Innovation Hub, Hajia Yusuf urged civil servants who are not familiar with digital devices to improve their Information Technology skills, stressing that digital competence would be essential to the future of the civil service.
She noted that officers have until the next promotion exercise to acquire the necessary digital skills, assuring them of the Commission’s continued support in the transition to digital processes.
Earlier, the Acting Head of Service, Dr Mercy Olufunke Shittu, said the adoption of Android phones for the CBT was aimed at making government processes faster, more transparent and efficient.
A civil servant with the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Lawal Kazim, who is seeking promotion from Grade Level 13 to Level 14, commended the state government and the Head of Service for providing a conducive environment for the exercise.
Another Level 13 officer, Mrs Ajarat, described the CBT promotion exercise as innovative, straightforward and stress-free.
The oral interview stage of the promotion exercise is scheduled to begin on Monday, with candidates expected to present their original credentials and comply with the guidelines for the next stage.
