Kwara State Police Command has refuted viral social media reports alleging the kidnap and murder of a female police officer serving in the state.
In a statement issued in Ilorin, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, described the claims as “entirely false, misleading, and designed to cause unnecessary panic among members of the public.”
SP Ejire-Adeyemi clarified that no female police officer serving in any division within Kwara State has been reported missing or abducted.
She explained that there is no police division named “Ogidi Division” in Kwara State, as referenced in the false report.
“The Command urges members of the public to disregard this misinformation, as such unverified reports not only harm the image of the Nigeria Police Force but also create needless tension among citizens,” the statement read.
She reaffirmed the commitment of the Kwara State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, psc, mnips, to maintaining peace, protecting lives and property, and working closely with other security agencies to curb crime across the state.
The Command also cautioned media professionals and social media users against circulating unverified or sensational content capable of inciting fear or damaging reputations, assuring that it remains committed to transparency.
She gave the assurance that the Command would continue to provide accurate information to the public when necessary.
