Kwara State Police Command, in collaboration with the State Government and Fimihan Adeoye Security Consult, has concluded a special capacity-building programme aimed at enhancing the operational proficiency of newly recruited constables in the state.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the training was designed to better equip the officers to tackle emerging security challenges confronting the state and the nation at large.

According to the statement, the exercise featured a series of practical sessions, including stripping and assembling of weapons, unarmed combat, VIP escort drills, rescue operations, and other tactical engagements meant to strengthen their preparedness for field operations.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode A. Egbetokun, for his visionary leadership and commitment to building a more professional and efficient police force.

He also commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his consistent support and partnership with the Command, which made the training exercise possible.

CP Ojo charged the new constables to put the skills they acquired into effective use in protecting lives and property, emphasizing discipline, dedication, and professionalism as essential virtues for service delivery.

Representing the Governor, the Special Adviser on Security, Alhaji Muyideen Aliyu, lauded the initiative and commended the trainees for their outstanding performance during the exercise.

He advocated similar training programmes to be extended to other officers to further strengthen the state’s security architecture.

Alhaji Aliyu reaffirmed the Governor’s unwavering support for security agencies in the state, urging the officers to uphold their oath of service and remain steadfast in their duty to safeguard the lives and property of Kwara citizens.

The Command noted that the training was part of ongoing efforts to ensure that police personnel in Kwara State are better equipped, disciplined, and motivated to respond effectively to the evolving dynamics of internal security management.

Dignitaries at the event included retired senior police officers such as AIG Baba Adisa Bolanta, AIG Babatunde Ishola Babaita, AIG Chris T. Owolabi, and AIG Fimihan Adeoye; as well as Hon. Ibrahim Abdullateef, Senior Special Assistant on Communications to the Governor; and SP Ajayi Okasanmi (rtd), among other senior officers.
