The Management of Kwara State Polytechnic has assured the public that peace and normal academic activities have been fully restored on campus and its environs following a brief protest by a few students earlier on Wednesday.

In a statement issued by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Halimat Garba, the incident was traced to reports of security operatives carrying out official duties in nearby Agbede village, which reportedly raised concerns among some students.

The Management clarified that no student was arrested during the security operation.

According to the statement, a small number of students had earlier protested by burning tyres along a section of Old Jebba Road to express their displeasure.

However, the swift and coordinated response of security agencies, alongside the Polytechnic’s internal security team, ensured that the situation was quickly brought under control without escalation.

The institution further confirmed that normalcy has been fully restored, with students scheduled for morning examinations duly checked in by invigilators and exams proceeding as planned.

Management commended the security agencies and its internal security personnel for their professionalism and prompt intervention, while also appreciating the majority of students for remaining calm and law-abiding throughout the incident.

The statement urged members of the public, particularly commuters along Old Jebba Road, to go about their daily activities without fear, assuring that the road is now safe and free for movement.

Kwara State Polytechnic reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety, welfare, and academic progress of all students and staff.
