Kwara South Holds Sensitization Program To Address Growing Security Challenges

In a bid to address the growing security challenges in Kwara South and its surrounding areas, a member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Tijanni Ismail, has called on traditional rulers and relevant stakeholders to take proactive measures in safeguarding their communities from criminal elements terrorizing the axis.

The Lawmaker representing Offa, Oyun and Ifelodun Federal Constituency,  stated this  during a Sensitization and Orientation session  for Community Leaders and Youth on Peace and Security with theme “Building a People of Peace” Organised by the Office of The Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Malam Isa lanre Onilu, held in Idofian, Ifelodun Local Government Area of the State.

Mr. Ismail, who expressed dissatisfaction of security threat in the areas, commended the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his proactive measures towards addressing the security challenges facing the area.

He emphasized the need for unity among Community Leaders, Religious Leaders, Security Agencies, and the people Kwara South to effectively combat the rising cases of criminal activities in the region.

Earlier in his address, the Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Malam Isa lanre Onilu, who spoke through the State Director of the Agency, Alhaji Dare Abdulganiyu identified peace as  the bedrock of international cooperation, calling on the bad eggs threatening peaceful atmosphere of Kwara South and its environs to desist from such acts, adding that, the emotional and psychological well-being of individuals is tied to peace.

The Director of the National Orientation Agency in Kwara State stressed the need for the people of Kwara South to be champions of peace and work closely together to build a society where peace is not just a distant ideal but a lived reality.

The All Progressive Congress, APC Chairman in Kwara State, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, reaffirmed the commitment of the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to flushed out the criminal elements in Kwara South and other part of the state, pointing out that, the Governor has ensure Military presence in Kwara South to curb security challenges in the area.

Speaking on behalf of Traditional Rulers in Kwara South, the Olusin, of Isanlu Isin, Oba Solomon Oluwagbemiga Oloyede, called for constitutional role for Traditional Rulers in the Country in order to perform their responsibility to effectively.

Representatives of both Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC and the Nigeria Police, expressed their readiness to ensure peace return to the areas.

Correspondent Abubakar Umar reports that highlight of the Meeting was presentation of Motorcycles to various security outfits in the axis to ease their movements in curbing the security challenges facing the areas.
