The Kwara State Government says it has strengthened its partnership with security agencies to ensure the safety of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving across the 16 local government areas of the state.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq disclosed this during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch C, Stream Two corps members at the temporary NYSC orientation camp, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Alhaji Shehu Ndanusa, the governor said the government had also improved its engagement with employers to ensure corps members are welcomed and accepted at their places of primary assignment.
He added that the state was planning to expand its youth empowerment programmes to support corps members with innovative ideas and practical solutions, noting that the country needed their contributions more than ever.
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Musa Kafarda, announced that 2,800 corps members had been deployed to Kwara State for the three-week orientation exercise.
He said the figure comprised 1,232 males and 1,568 females, urging them to participate actively in camp activities, particularly the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.
Mr Kafarda also reminded the corps members to obey camp rules and respect camp officials, describing the NYSC as a national unity programme that brings young Nigerians together regardless of their ethnic, cultural and religious differences.
He appreciated the state government for its support, particularly the repair of the damaged section of the multipurpose hall, reconstruction of the camp kitchen and provision of 1,000 plastic chairs for the corps members.
The corps members were formally sworn in by the Kwara State Chief Judge, Justice Abiodun Adebara, represented by Justice Taoheed Umar of the State High Court.
