A Bill to amend the Kwara State Prohibition of Kidnapping has been read for second time at the state House of Assembly.

The Bill was sponsored by a member representing Kaima/Kemanji/Wajibe Constituency, Alhaji Abdullah Danbaba.

Alhaji Danbaba who highlighted the challenges of the kidnapping cases in the society, said the Bill, when passed would upgrade fines and punishments to offenders.

He however urged members to ensure speedy passage of the Bill to curb cases of kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state.

Other members who contributed to the debate, emphasized the need for the House to enact a law that would ban the ugly incident in the state.

The Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Salihu-Danladi in a resolution directed the Committee on Ethics and Judiciary to conduct a public hearing on the Bill and report to the House as soon as possible.

Earlier, a Bill to establish magistrate court in the state was also read for the first time.
