
The Rector, Kwara State Polytechnic, Engr. Dr Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, has commended the administration of Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq for his unwavering support towards the advancement of technical and vocational education in the State, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
Engr. Abdul made the remarks today at the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Polytechnic and the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), held at Ebute-meta, Lagos State.

The MoU, also signed by the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Yaba College of Technology and Trinity University, aims to enhance educational opportunities in railway engineering and technology, providing a framework for training the next generation of professionals in the sector.
Engr. Abdul highlighted the agreement’s potential to generate skilled manpower for the sector, ultimately contributing to national development.
According to him, “by the time this programme is well established, we will have graduates ready to serve the railway industry, reducing the reliance on expatriates and the need for training abroad.

He further highlighted the potential for job creation steaming from the initiative, as it promises to open avenue for employment for the unemployed youths in the country.
Speaking earlier, the Managing Director, of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Dr. Kayode Opeifa disclosed that the MoU is focused on enhancing railway technology skills acquisition, dissemination, and utilization.
He added that the agreement seeks to foster partnerships, transfer technology, and maximize benefits for both parties involved.
