Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to prioritising investment in digital, science and technical education as part of ongoing efforts to raise the standard of education across the state.

The Senior Adviser and Counsellor to the Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Sa’adudeen Salahu, gave the assurance while speaking at a media parley themed “The New Kwara in Kwara Poly,” organised by the Department of Strategic Communication and Media Studies, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.

The event was held at the permanent site of the institution along Old Jebba Road, Ilorin.

Alhaji Salahu explained that, in response to the geometric growth in population, the state government has continued to deploy digital tools to improve service delivery and strengthen educational development across all levels.

According to him, the establishment of smart schools across the state has significantly expanded access to digital literacy and modern learning techniques, better preparing students for global competitiveness.

He added that the ranking of Kwara State Polytechnic as the fourth best polytechnic in the country is a clear testament to the government’s sustained investment in the education sector, urging students to remain focused and committed to their studies to secure a better future.

In her address, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajiya Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, represented by the Director of Special Services, Mrs. Rodihat Yahaya, commended the organisers for strategically positioning students for greater academic and career opportunities.

She also praised the students for their contributions to the growth and development of the institution.

Earlier, Chairman of the occasion and immediate past Non-Executive Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Dr. Ghali Alaya, lauded the management of the polytechnic for safeguarding the institution’s facilities.

He reminded students that discipline and personal effort are essential to success, urging them to complement their parents’ sacrifices with positive life planning.

In his remarks, the Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Dr. Abdul Jimoh, disclosed that the state government has approved the perimeter fencing of the institution.

He noted that the project would curb the activities of land grabbers and significantly enhance security within the polytechnic.
