Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to sustain investment in education with a view to preparing and building young generation for future tasks ahead of them.

The State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Saadatu Modibbo-Kawu, gave the assurance in Ilorin while receiving the leadership of the state council of the Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ).

The leadership of the state NUJ was in her office  to present an award to her as “Champion of Education” during her stint in the state Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development prior to her recent redeployment to Tertiary Education Ministry.

Hajia Modibbo-Kawu said that the present administration committed itself to revitalizing education sector with investment and promised that the feat would be sustained.

She attributed successes in the sector to the effort of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to ensure that environment is enabled for his appointees to work.

The Commissioner promised to always put the interest of the people first, both in and out of service and dedicate the award to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for providing the enabling environment for them to thrive.

Hajia Modibbo-Kawu also thanked the people of the state for their willingness to support and promote the government.

The Kwara State NUJ Chairman, Lanre Ahmed Abdullateef, who led the team, said the choice of Hajia Modibbo-Kawu for the award was in acknowledgement of the government’ revolution in the education sector.

Chairman of NUJ, recalled the sorry state of education from basic to post-basic education in the past but expressed delight that the present administration has changed the narrative.

“It is one thing to have a vision, it is another thing to get it translated into reality. You have worked assiduously in effecting the desired change while you held sway as Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development”.

The Chairman also explained that  the decrepit state of education and the challenges teachers in the state faced in terms of salary delay, low standard, uncompleted projects in the past, and expressed delight that the present administration had changed that with positive outcomes.

Lanre Ahmed Abdullateef enjoined the Commissioner to continue to incubate and develop ideas in ensuring quality education is delivered.
