
The new Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, North Central Zone, Alhaji Babayo Askira has assumed office.
At a brief handing over ceremony at the North Central Zonal Headquarters, Lafia, the new zonal Director urged members of staff to brace up to the challenges of modern broadcasting and put in their best in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Babayo Askira, who emphasized that more attention would be focus on training and retraining as well as staff welfare, gave an assurance to continue with the giant developmental strides put in place by his predecessor.
While commending the outgone Zonal Director for the impressive achievements recorded during his tenure, Alhaji Askira stressed the need for team work and called on management and staff of the zone to accord him the needed support.
In his handing over remark, the outgone Zonal Director, who has been redeployed to the same position at Radio Nigeria Kaduna National Station, Mallam Haruna Idris, urged staff of the North Central zone to give maximum support and cooperation to the new Zonal Director to achieve the desired results.

Mallam Haruna Idris announced that plans were on to acquire a Frequency from the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, for a new FM station at the Zonal Headquarters Lafia and urged the new ZD to ensure logical conclusion.
In a welcome speech, the Deputy Director Administration of the Zone, Mallam Nma Ibrahim ,summarized achievements of the former ZD to include constructions of a one storey studios at the Zonal Headquarters Lafia, construction and relocation of Prime FM studio to Mount Patti in Lokoja, provision of furnitures to all offices at the zone and renovation of the facility as well as provision of digital transmitters to some FM stations among several others.

The new FRCN North Central Zonal Director who was redeployed from the North East Zonal office was accompanied by the Heads of Administration, ICT and other members of staff from Bauchi.
Alhaji Babayo Askira was once the General Manager Precious FM Lafia between year 2008 and 2010.
