The call was made today in Ilorin by the Branch Chairman, Chief Rafiu Balogun, during a press briefing to flag off activities marking the 2026 World Red Cross Day.

Chief Balogun, who was represented by the Society’s Adviser on Communication and Advocacy, Dr. Sodiq Toyin, acknowledged the daily sacrifices of volunteers in service to humanity, describing them as reflections of “the courage, commitment, and selflessness that define the Red Cross Movement.”

While appreciating God for the opportunity to witness this year’s commemoration under the inspiring theme “United For Humanity”, he noted that it taked shared responsibility to stand together in compassion, service, and support for the vulnerable in communities.

In his remarks, the Kwara State Branch Secretary, Instructor Ayodeji Babaomo, who outlined a week long lineup of activities to commemorate the birthday of Henry Dunant, founder of the Red Cross, appealed for support from wealthy individuals, religious groups, and called for annual subvention from government to boost humanitarian services for the vulnerable.
