Youths in Kwara State have been urged to key into the numerous initiatives by the Federal Government, for financial empowerment and self development.

These initiatives include the Nigeria Education Loan Fund, NELFUND; the National Youth Investment Fund; and the Industrial Training Fund.

At a townhall meeting with youth groups in Kwara State, NOA, Director General, Mallam Lanre Issa Onilu, explained that applications for the programmes is online, to ensure fairness in selection process.

Mallam Issa Onilu, represented by the North Central Zonal Director of the Agency, Princess Princillia Gondoalour, stated that over 600 thousand students have been enrolled into the NELFUND programme while N59 billion have been disbursed so far.

Mallam Issa Onilu explained that the agency’s decision to have physical engagement with stakeholders is to provide avenue for robust conversations and quality feedback from citizens on government policies and programmes.

Earlier, the Kwara State Director of NOA, Alhaji Dare Abdulganiyu said that the third quarter nationwide sensitization campaign would enlighten citizens on five thematic areas including National Values Reorientation; Presidential Flood Mitigation and Conditional Cash Transfer and Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund.

The State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Ndanusa Usman who stated that Student Loan is a demonstration of government’s commitment to education, advised
young people not to be deceived by Japa syndrome but stay back to contribute their quota to societal development.

Representative of the State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, Mrs Funmilayo Babatunde who described corps members as tools of change, expressed their readiness to drive NOA campaign messages to communities across every local government area for improved results.

In separate remarks, stakeholders at the event, including security agencies, appealed to youths to shun every practices that could hinder their academic pursuits, imbibe acceptable values and show respect to national symbols.
