
NUJ Election: Comrade Alhasan Yahaya Emerges New National President

Comrade Alhasan Yahaya has been elected as the new president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
The election was held during the 8th National Triennial Delegate Conference of the union which took place at the popular Sam Mbakwe Hall, Owerri, Imo State.

Announcing the results, chairman of the electoral committee, Mr. Mike Iheagwu, declared the following votes: Comrade Garba Mohammed received 39 votes, Comrade Dele Atunbi received 97 votes, and Comrade Alhasan Yahaya secured a landslide victory with 436 votes.
In his acceptance speech, the new NUJ president expressed gratitude to journalists nationwide for their support and pledged his commitment to the welfare of members.

Comrade Alhasan Yahaya promised to collaborate with stakeholders and uphold professionalism, emphasizing that “there is no victor, no vanquished.
The new president, who hails from Gombe State also honored the immediate past NUJ president Dr Chris Isiguzo by decorating him as a fellow of the NUJ National council.
About 700 journalists across the Federation including Kwara delegates led by the State NUJ Council Chairman, Comrade Abdullateef Lanre Ahmed attended the 8th Triennial Delegate Conference in Owerri, Imo State Capital
