The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has expressed sympathy with the people of Nuku community and the entire Kaiama Emirate over the recent attack on forest guards serving the area.
In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the Union, Mallam Suleiman Shuaib Dagbo, the National President of the Union, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, described the incident as disturbing, unfortunate, and unacceptable, particularly coming just months after a similar occurrence in the same axis.
Alhaji Abdulmalik, however, commended the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, for constituting a seven-man Kwara State Security Strategy Committee (KSSC).
The committee is chaired by a distinguished son of Ilorin and former General Officer Commanding, 1st Infantry Division, Kaduna, Major-General Garba Ayo Wahab (rtd).
He expressed optimism that the committee would strengthen efforts to combat terrorism and restore lasting peace across the state.
The IEDPU President further urged residents of Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State at large to cooperate fully with the state government, the committee, and security agencies in the collective fight against terrorism and other criminal activities.
He also prayed for the restoration of enduring peace and harmony in Kwara State and Nigeria as a whole.
