
Kwara State Police Command has arrested a suspected child kidnapper in Ilorin, the state capital.
According to the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the unidentified suspect, who claimed to have come from Osun State, was apprehended by a joint patrol team comprising police officers and community vigilante members during a routine operation.
SP Ejire-Adeyemi noted that the suspect was rescued from a violent mob that were on the verge of lynching him.
The Command’s Spokesperson, who said that the suspect is in police custody, assured that further investigations to ascertain the facts surrounding the allegations.
She explained that the complainants were yet to report to provide additional information that could assist the Command in it investigation.
SP Ejire-Adeyemi assured the public that updates would be provided as the case unfolds.
The Command however cautioned the public against mob action and jungle justice.
It described jungle justice as unlawful, counterproductive and therefore urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
