The Kwara State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity in connection with the alleged abduction and murder of a student of Kwara State Polytechnic who was earlier declared missing.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, disclosed that the suspects were apprehended during coordinated raids on identified cult hideouts in Ilorin on Monday, June 29, 2026, following credible intelligence and sustained investigations.
The suspects, identified as Adeoye Babatunde Alimi, popularly known as “Solar,” Bernard Kayode, also known as “KK,” and Owoyemi Bashiru, alias “GDP,” are alleged to have been involved in the disappearance of 29-year-old Sodiq Durodola Olaniyi, an indigene of Oyo State, who was reported missing on June 4, 2026.
According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime, revealing that the victim was abducted and subsequently killed by members of the cult group.
The Command further disclosed that investigations revealed the criminal gang comprises twelve members, with nine suspects still on the run.
It said efforts have been intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects, dismantle the syndicate and recover the victim’s body.
The police added that the arrested suspects are providing useful information on other violent crimes allegedly committed by the group in Ilorin.
The Command assured the public that all those found culpable would be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations.
