The Kwara State Police Command has rescued one Haruna Ahamadu unhurt from a kidnappers’ den located in the Omu-Aran forest, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued in Ilorin by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo.
According to the statement, the successful rescue operation followed credible intelligence that led to a coordinated joint action by police operatives and members of the local vigilante group.
Two suspects — Ayisa Ibrahim femaleand Yakubu Hassan male, have been arrested in connection with the abduction, while efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the gang.
The Kwara State Police Command has recorded yet another operational success in its sustained onslaught against criminal elements in the state,” the statement read.
SP Ejire-Adeyemi noted that the Command remains resolute in ensuring the safety of lives and property across Kwara State.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers for their dedication and assured members of the public that the Command remains fully committed to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of all residents.
The statement further stated that the CP appreciated the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, whose policing vision continues to enhance operational efficiency and proactive crime-fighting across the nation.
The Command, therefore, urged residents to continue to provide timely and useful information that could assist security agencies in tracking criminal elements, warning that there would be no hiding place for kidnappers and bandits in any part of the state.
The latest rescue operation adds to a series of recent breakthroughs recorded by security operatives in Kwara amid growing concerns over incidents of abduction in some parts of the state.
