A renowned Islamic scholar and lecturer at the University of Ilorin, Professor Abubakr Imam Ali-Agan, has condemned the killing of innocent citizens in Woro community of Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State.
Professor Imam Ali-Agan made the condemnation during his weekly Islamic programme, Madrasat Muhammad, on Radio Nigeria Harmony FM, Idofian.
He described the incident as disheartening and painful, calling on government and relevant authorities to urgently find lasting solutions to the persistent killing of innocent people across the country.
The Islamic scholar, however, commended Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and security agencies for their swift response in addressing the security threats in the area.
Professor Ali-Agan also decried the porous nature of Nigeria’s borders and urged stakeholders to adopt a coordinated approach to effectively tackle the challenge.
He prayed Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and give their families the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
Professor Abubakr Imam Ali-Agan also offered special prayers for the repose of the souls of the late renowned Islamic scholar, Professor Yusuf Lanre Badmus, and the late Chief Imam of Ilorin, Dr. Muhammadu Bashir Salih.
Professor Ali-Agan condoled with the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari; Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; the Ilorin Emirate; and the Kwara State Council of Ulamas over the demise of Imam Bashir and Professor Badmus.
