The United States of America (USA) branch of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has commenced its 2026 annual Ramadan distribution of food items and cash support to Muslims across the Ilorin Emirate in Kwara State.
The flag-off ceremony took place at the IEDPU National Secretariat, located in the Gerin Alimi area of Ilorin.
Speaking at the event, the National Vice President of IEDPU, Alhaji Isa Abdulrauf, commended the USA branch for sustaining the humanitarian initiative aimed at supporting Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan.
He explained that beneficiaries were drawn from the five local government areas that make up the Ilorin Emirate — Ilorin East, Ilorin West, Ilorin South, Moro, and Asa.

Abdulrauf noted that the distribution of food items and financial assistance would go a long way in alleviating the hardship faced by many Muslim families during the fasting period.
He described the programme as a significant intervention that has continued to positively impact lives across the emirate.
He called on well-meaning individuals, corporate organisations, and other associations to emulate the IEDPU USA branch by extending similar gestures of love and support to Muslims during Ramadan.
According to him, the initiative is an annual programme through which many families have benefited over the years.
The Vice President also commended the volunteers who facilitated the distribution, describing their efforts as selfless and worthy of commendation.

He prayed that Almighty Allah would reward them abundantly and expressed appreciation to the donors on behalf of the beneficiaries for their generosity and commitment to community development.
In their goodwill messages, Mallam Alaro Suleiman described the initiative as commendable and urged other Muslims to embrace the spirit of giving and compassion demonstrated by the IEDPU USA branch.
Similarly, Mallam Anafi Alabere characterised the gesture as a clear demonstration of love and care for fellow Muslims, praying that Allah would continue to bless and reward the donors.
In his vote of thanks, Dr. Ajao Muhammed appreciated the national leadership of IEDPU for what he described as fatherly guidance and for laying a solid legacy for the association through impactful community-based programmes.
